Sad News

This has not been a great week for us at Alaskan Ram Travel Adventures.  On Tuesday, while Heather was visiting her dad in Florida, Jeff was sitting at his desk at work eating lunch when a notification came in from our home security cameras.  Normally, we both ignore these notifications because it is often a […]

Stunning Door County, Wisconsin

Door County, Wisconsin is a very special place to us.  It is where Jeff was born and spent the first three years of his life, it is where many of Jeff’s extended family members still live, it is even where we first vacationed together, along with many more vacations since that first one.  We love

Work Travels

September has been a month of travel for Jeff, but unfortunately, not travel for pleasure.  His job has required him to be gone quite a lot this month, and while it sounds exciting on the surface, in reality he is mostly just seeing the inside of meeting rooms.  He did, however, get out a little

Sault Ste. Marie, MI

We left on Saturday morning for a two week trip around the north shore of Lake Superior.  Wow, does it ever feel good to be back on the road!  After traveling the entire year last year, we started to feel more at home on the road than in our actual home.  Being stationary again has

A Quick Florida Trip

What have we been up to lately?  The short answer is that we have both returned to full-time work and we are also working hard to keep up with the YouTube channel.  Our goal is always to put out a video per week, but working and trying to keep up with the other basics of

A Little Family Time

After almost 11 months of continuous and spectacular travel, we were overdue for some family time.  We will be returning home to Kentucky very soon, but first, we have some family in Florida that we couldn’t miss visiting! While we have been gone, Heather’s dad, Gary, and step-mom, Lynne, have moved to the Orlando area.

Heading East

Hey, Heather and Jeff have been quiet for the last week and a half.  Wonder what have they been up to?  The short answer is a lot, but not really anything worth a blog post on its own, so we will keep this short and to the point! After leaving Stewart, we headed east across

Dawson City, YT

In our last post, we chronicled our trip across the Top of the World Highway and across the border into Canada.  The first town you reach once into the Yukon is Dawson City and because of the rich history of the area, we knew we would spend a few days exploring. The only way to

Leaving Alaska

We have been dreading this day.  Since we entered Alaska three months ago, we have absolutely fallen head over heels in love with the state.  Heather said last night that she was concerned before our visit that we had built it up in our minds so much that we might be disappointed with the reality,

Chitina and Beyond

Leaving Valdez was hard.  It was a gorgeous place, we had amazing weather, and there was still plenty to keep us busy there that we hadn’t done.  We have learned, though, that you can’t do it all and you have to save something for your next trip!  Knowing that Alaska still had more to offer

Valdez, AK

Valdez is spectacular!  No kidding, it is likely the most gorgeous setting for a town we have ever seen.  The mountains are huge and gorgeous with glaciers between, the water is blue, berries are ripe, and flowers are blooming everywhere!  It is almost magical. Before we get to all that, though, let’s talk about getting

Palmer, Revisited

As mentioned in our last post, we are back in Palmer for a few days.  There are a number of chores that we need to accomplish while here, but first we had some activities that we ran out of time for last time we were in the area, so we got to the fun stuff

A Day on the Water

Today was a note-worthy day for several reasons!  First, we are currently in Homer, Alaska for a few days with Heather’s Uncle Richard.  He has flown in for a week to visit and explore the Kenai Peninsula with us!  Second, we took a scenic cruise to Seldovia, Alaska.  Finally, it was an absolutely gorgeous day.

Bodenburg Butte

This is going to be a quick one. We are still in Palmer, AK and plan to stay for a few more days! We are so impressed with the Palmer area. The combination of mountains and farmland make it absolutely gorgeous, there are lots of things to do to keep you busy, and the crowds

The Steese Highway

We spent the last few days along the Steese Highway.  This is Alaska Highway 6 that travels northeast from Fairbanks and ends at the town of Circle.  There are both paved and gravel portions of this road.  We only traveled as far as Twelve Mile Summit, which is about halfway, but we found the portion
